The identity of the Knights of Dreisdean was a secret known only to the king and a few of his advisers. Their lustrous armour, accompanied by matching chain-maille which covered their hands and feet, did not leave visibility for flesh. Their thick helmets, marred only with holes to breathe and diagonal slits to see, were said to be made of the purest silver. The knights weren’t known for being the best conversationalists, as they spoke only when necessary, and usually only with the King. Rumours filled every home with talk of unholy creatures owing a life debt to the king’s family, beasts forced to protect the royal bloodline for eternity, enslaved by the silver they wore. With the near abduction of his eldest daughter within their home, the King feared for the safety of both his daughters. The knights now guarded them in all areas of the castle, not just outside of its walls. Lania detested the lack of privacy.
