White Rabbit-Author's Note

Everyone has a story, and not all of them have happy endings. I'm sorry to anyone who looks for one here. Life doesn't give those often. I'm supposed to make that clear. Hardships, tragedies, and death are the main ingredients for a flavorful and delicious life. Sometimes you even have to bluff your way out to survive. At least that's what Rabbit always says.
First, I want to be clear, I wasn't abducted or forced - as my family wants to believe - to write any of this story. I was approached, asked and offered generously. I couldn't refuse, and you wouldn't have either. I don't know how they found me or why they chose me specifically. I probably never will, and I don't think I want to know either. Some questions shouldn't be asked because the answers aren't always accepted graciously, according to Card Number One.
Secondly, I am just the author. These experiences are not mine, and are only what I have witnessed and been told in extreme detail for me to log.
My apologies for anything that may trigger you. BE WARNED, there are many upsetting images if you continue. Please read at your own discretion. I'm not going to say much about myself, as everything that follows isn't about me in any way.
Finally, I do have free roaming permission in the house. I say house, but my room alone is double the size of my first apartment. The rest is a football field and a half of rooms, corridors and more that I've barely touched as of the time you are reading these words.
I have met most of its occupants, but spoken to only a few fully. Their stories come later, but I have been given a place to start. Which I will do now.
Make your tea, coffee or beverage of choice. Do you have a snack? Perhaps some chocolate, as not all parts are happy. Once you gather everything, settle somewhere comfortable.
Picture a looking glass. Tall as the walls and wider than a child's imagination. Clean and shining from the light of a nearby window. Its beautiful golden frame is pristine, and newer than when it first arrived.
However, on closer examination, you can tell the glass is shattered into shards, held perfectly in place. Not only does it reflect your perplexed expression, but there are images of others on some of them. Each sliver is a character you will meet, with a story to tell. So, you know, all names were changed to protect everyone's true identities. I know you are becoming curious.
To quote the fictional Mad Hatter, "There is a place like no place on Earth. ... Some say to survive it you need to be as mad as a hatter. Which luckily I am."
"There is a world hidden in the shadows, and for everyone's benefit, it should stay that way." says the Queen of Hearts.
Of course, the Mad Hatter I've met says many other things also, especially when his tea is seasoned with bourbon. I would, too, if I had seen what he has. We will address his matters later. For now, let's begin with the first; we surely can't start with the last. That would be silly.
I'm sure you will become curiouser and curiouser after you meet Alice.
